Der Stoffschieber bewegt sich nach vorne, kleine Zähnchen halten den Stoff und legen ihn in Falten.
Durch die variablen Einstellmöglichkeiten können sowohl Faltentiefe als auch die Häufigkeit des Kräuselns verändert werden.
Mit dem Einstellhebel ist es möglich die Faltendichte zu definieren: eine Falte mit jedem Stich, mit jedem sechsten Stich, mit jedem zwölften Stich oder keine Faltenbildung.
